KeymasterI make music on a pc.
It was never a problem for years and I could easily spend long protracted periods of time using just the mouse with my right arm.
Then I got a job in telesales which involved me phoning random people from a telephone book , which is illegal , but the problems first started because of my eyesight. I couldnt see the telephone book properly and had to lean over my desk with a magnifying glass for 5 hours a day , 5 days a week.
As a result of this , I developed bursitis. The doctor prescribed robaxin at first , then diazepam , to relax the muscles as he wasnt sure what it was. Months later , after much worrying , and pacing the floor with a brush shaft over my shoulders and my arms hanging over it to give me some relief , I got an appointment to go to the hospital to get an injection in each shoulder .
After a few days , the pain went , but I seem to have developed something similar in the back part of my shoulders , on the outer side of my shoulder blades towards my arms , but the whole shoulder area seems so weakened. There is also a spot right between my shoulder blades that feels so tight and horrible. I also have rounded shoulders.
It wasnt so bad until today when it actually woke me at 3am and i felt dizzy and weird and that spot between my shoulder blades was so very tight , so , I went on the foam roller I bought to help me when I was having the bursitis problems , and just laid my back on it and rolled up and down for about 5 or 10 minutes. Afterwards , I felt dizzy when I sat up , which just increases the tension , and im now very apprehensive about going to sleep , even though this is exhausting me.
I have also experienced shakiness in my arms when i lift them , and a little pain when my arms are psitioned in a certain way…..for instance , if i stretch out my right arm and move it to point at the 10:00 position , I feel slight sharp pain about 3 or 4 inches below the shoulder ball , on the outside of the arm. Im also experienced cramps in my trapezius , around the inner bottom side of the shoulder blades. My chest also feels tighter and my breathing restricted somewhat , probably because of leaning forward over my laptop , because I need to strain to see the screen….again , due to my bad eyesight ( which is unfixable )My legs have also developed a horrible tightness at the rear of my thigh, and a massage therapist I went to see , told me it was my hamstrings , but at that time couldnt perform a massage on me as I told her i was on medication to relax the muscles. They also feel very shaky , but I found an exercise that relieves them for a short while , by using a dressing gown belt under each foot as i lie on my back , and pulling my leg up straight. I feel relief for a while but the problem returns as soon as i’ve been on the pc for about an hour or so
My legs are constantly bouncing when im on my pc….probably my subconscious way of diffusing the tension , and they feel weak and shakyI’ve tried some stretches , but the problems persist in my shoulders and trapezius , and I feel I cant even hold my tablet because im using the same muscle group for that , and many other things I do. I have even used a speech synthesis program to make my computer alert me every half hour by saying ” you need to stretch now ” , but the stretches ive been doing dont seem to be having much effect.
I also get a stiff neck , with some pain / tightness , on the right hand side.
I think the problem has been exacerbated by the fact that when i type my shoulders are constantly tense and my arms are completely suspended in mid air , because i dont want to accidentally touch the keys. I know this is stupid , but its a habit ive gotten into. My seat was also too low because i needed to be in line with the screen due to my eyesight , so my shoulders were reaching up to the keyboard.
Im getting a new computer in a few days , which will have a 23″ TV as a monitor , so i wont have to squint and lean forward to see it , and i’ll have a standard keyboard rather than the laptop , so i can rest my elbows on something as i type.
Please. Im at my wits end , and im driving my wife mad because everytime she asks how i am , all id do is complain about my aches and pains. She doesnt realise just how debilitating it is , and due to her menopause , she is becoming more and more irritated at me , which makes me more tense , which in turn feeds the problem even more.
I really need help with this. I just want to get back to feeling my normal , happy , enthusiastic self , but this is driving me crazy and im thinking i have things that i probably dont have.
please help me find some relief from this. Something that works. I would so appreciate it.
Thanks in advance =)
