Vitamin D – We NEED the Sun!

I received a newsletter from a wonderful triathlete coach who used to live in the USA, in Georgia, and is now in Australia (how’s that for starting a new life!). Jake Brindle has such an informative newsletter that I want to share it with you. As I was reading it I found an article about vitamin D deficiency, it interested me because I have been involved with Shaklee Supplements for over 20 years and I know that we are suffering from deficiencies without even knowing it.

Vitamin D deficiencies can be coming from a lack in our diet, but the most common way to absorb vitamin D is from the sun. However, with so many people using sunscreen on all of their exposed skin, it is shocking to hear that research reported by the NIH has shown that 75% of the adults tested were deficient in this important nutrient!

Some of the side-effects of a deficiency in vitamin D are weak muscles and bones, and even the NIH has said that these symptoms are frequently overlooked or misdiagnosed.

As I said, I’ve used Shaklee Supplements for many years and I’ve seen some amazing results in my own family and in the lives of people I’ve spoken to over the years. Shaklee makes their supplements from only fruits and vegetables that have been organically grown and are cold-processed to keep the nutrients live so they can support your health.

We need the sun, but if you are avoiding the sun for other health concerns, then it is important for you to supplement your diet with high food sources of vitamin D, and with nutritional supplements that will assure that you receive the amount of vitamin D necessary to have a strong and healthy body.

Wishing you well,
Julie
