Stress Reduction – Breathe and Relax

As you know, I’ve joined with Ana Johnson to combine the Julstro self-treatments with yoga postures, and it’s having an amazing beneficial affect for so many people already.  Ana is incredible!  Not only is she a caring individual who (like me) developed TriggerPoint Yoga for the express purpose of easing pain and increasing flexibility in as many people as we can reach, she also is tirelessly giving so much great information on our TriggerPoint Yoga Facebook page.

This is what Ana posted today and I wanted to share it with you because it’s so helpful for anyone who is stressed…

TIP FOR THURSDAY...

Have you ever noticed how you breathe when you feel stressed? As well, how your breathing feels when you are calm?

The next time you happen to notice a few tranquil moments, see if you can tune into how your body feels and the rhythm of your breath. While stressed, you may already notice that your heart rate increases and your breathing becomes shallow, fast, or worse, you may… even hold your breath.

“Mindful breathing breaks” can be powerful medicine for your mind and body and is proven to be one of the best ways to lower the effects of stress. “Mindful breathing breaks” are easy to perform, you can do them anytime, and it doesn’t require any special tools…remarkably all it takes is 5:00 minutes to make a profound difference! The most difficult part is REMEMBERING!!

So go ahead – set the timer on your phone for 5:00 minutes – close your eyes – inhale fully through your nose to gently fill your lungs – notice your ribcage expand – exhale slowly……repeat.
When you breathe fully it saturates every cell in your body with vital oxygen promoting relaxation. AHHH….

Thanks Ana…what a great way to start today – and add into every day!

Ana is always adding something new and wonderful to our Facebook page, I hope you’ll visit it, and that you’ll also visit us on our TriggerPoint Yoga website. It could change your life!

Wishing you well,
      Julie
