Trigger finger is caused by the same muscles as those involved in the tingling of carpal tunnel syndrome. I’ve started to do some work with high-level athletes and yesterday I was working with a man who had “clicking” in his pointer and middle fingers. The man is a javelin thrower which uses all of the muscles that cause both trigger finger and carpal tunnel syndrome.
Sure enough, his forearm muscles, the flexors and extensors, were like cement! The muscles were so tight that there wasn’t any flexibility when I pressed into them, even when his hand was totally relaxed. I worked on his forearm for over 45 minutes, also treating his biceps because of the way they impact the lower arm. By the end of the session he was moving his fingers freely and then I taught him how to self-treat using the Julstro System for trigger finger and carpal tunnel syndrome.
He was thrilled because it’s vital that he is able to open his fingers quickly, and this trigger finger problem was starting to affect his throw.
Who knows, maybe someday I’ll get to travel with him to the Olympics!
Have a great day,
Julie
